Nearly 600 Bikes Expected to Help Milwaukee Kids Ride Into Summer

At Rebel Converting, we believe strong communities are built when organizations, businesses, volunteers, and neighbors come together to create opportunities for others. That's why we are proud to once again support one of Milwaukee's most inspiring community traditions: Sixteenth Street Bike Day.

On Saturday, June 13, families from across Milwaukee will gather at Kosciuszko Park for a day focused on health, movement, family fun, and community connection. Hosted by Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers, the annual event has become a cornerstone summer tradition for thousands of local families.

This year marks the 16th anniversary of the event, and organizers expect to distribute approximately 600 bicycles to children throughout the day.

More Than Just a Bike Giveaway

For many children, receiving a bicycle is about more than simply getting a new ride. A bike represents freedom, independence, outdoor activity, and the chance to create lasting memories with friends and family.

The event will feature:

  • Free bicycles, helmets, and locks for children 18 and under (while supplies last)
  • Bike fittings and safety demonstrations
  • Family-friendly activities
  • Snacks and refreshments
  • Community resources and educational opportunities
  • Giveaways and interactive experiences

Every bicycle distributed represents a community investment in a child's health, confidence, and future.

The Work Begins Before the Event Starts

While families will begin arriving at 10:00 a.m., the effort behind Sixteenth Street Bike Day starts much earlier.

Beginning around 7:00 a.m., volunteers and community partners will unload semi-trailers filled with hundreds of donated bicycles that have been collected, repaired, inspected, and prepared for distribution.

The event is expected to continue into the early afternoon, with many families leaving not only with a bicycle but also with valuable safety equipment, community resources, and memories that last long after the day ends.

A Community Effort Years in the Making

Events of this scale are only possible because of the incredible support provided by dedicated community organizations and volunteers.

Rebel Converting is honored to work alongside outstanding partners including Lake Express Ferry, DreamBikes, Working Bikes, and the Bike Federation, whose commitment to bicycle access and community engagement helps make this event possible year after year.

Together, these organizations help collect, transport, repair, organize, and distribute hundreds of bicycles to children and families throughout the Milwaukee area.

Their efforts demonstrate the power of collaboration and the impact that can be achieved when businesses and nonprofits unite around a common purpose.

Rebel Converting's Commitment to Milwaukee

Community involvement has always been an important part of who we are at Rebel Converting.

Whether we're manufacturing innovative products, supporting local nonprofit initiatives, or helping provide bicycles to children who need them, we remain committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve.

For 16 years, Sixteenth Street Bike Day has helped put thousands of bicycles into the hands of local children. We are proud to play a role in supporting an event that encourages healthy lifestyles, outdoor recreation, and stronger neighborhoods.
